The Midwest Region of the Poultry Science Association is compromised of 12 different states including the following: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.

My name is Maci Oelschlager and I am the Midwest Regional Director and the University of Illinois Ambassador for the Poultry Science Association Hatchery.  I was born and raised in a small town just about a north of the University of Illinois campus in Champaign, IL called Fairbury. Growing up surrounded by an agricultural community shaped me into the person I am today and influenced my decision for studying animal sciences in my undergraduate career.  Upon completion of my bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois in Animal Sciences, I began graduate school. I am a graduate student starting my second year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, working on my master’s degree under Dr. Ryan Dilger. Currently, my research investigates the role of dietary feed additives and their ability to act as immunomodulators in combatting coccidiosis in broilers. My passion for the advancement of poultry science knowledge and research has led me to seek out the opportunity to be a part of interdisciplinary research across the Midwest region.
