2021 PSA Hatchery's Student of the Year Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize exceptional PSA student members in the time period of August 2020 to March 2021. The recipient of this award will receive a plaque and a $1,000 travel grant.

Deadline to Apply: June 1, 2021 @ 11:59 PM CST.

Application Materials

  • Maximum one page essay on involvement within PSA.

  • A one page resume with a section highlighting publications and presentations.

  • Letter of Recommendation (at least one is required, submitting a second is optional; no more than two (2) are to be submitted).

  • Official/Unofficial Transcripts (optional).

Selection Criteria

Student of the year applications will be considered based upon the following:

  • Involvement within the Hatchery and Poultry Science Association

  • Leadership positions, conference attendance

  • Academic Achievement

  • Publications/Presentations

  • Published manuscripts

  • Presentations at scientific meetings

Application Review

After submission, the Hatchery Advisory Committee will review each submitted application and confirm that each has met the requirements of the award. Those applications meeting the requirements will be contacted with the decision (accept/decline) upon conclusion of the review process.

Award Funds & Plaque

Once the Selection Committee's decision has been made, each individual will be contacted within the week and notified of the decision (accept/reject). The award amount is $1,000 in the form of a travel grant to be used for qualifying expenses for any conference related to poultry science of the selected student’s field of study. The grant funds will be distributed by PSA in accordance with receipts that match the original grant approval. It is imperative original receipts are kept and mailed to PSA at 4114C Fieldstone Drive Champaign, IL 61822 within 30 days of the event. A plaque will be sent to the recipient in 2021 due to the Annual Meeting's virtual format.
