Position Description:

The Department of Poultry Science at Mississippi State University is seeking a highly motivated graduate research assistant who is interested in layer nutrition and management beginning in the Fall semester, 2021. The research will focus on the role of phytase and limestone on the digestibility and performance in laying hens. Some aspects of the research will include:

  • Develop research protocols

  • Plan and execute research

  • Formulate commercial poultry diets

  • Perform data collection and analysis using statistical software

  • Present research outcomes in scientific meetings and conferences


  • B. S. in Poultry Science, Animal Science, veterinary science or closely related field.

  • Enthusiasm for conducting research on farm as well as in the lab.

  • Prior experience in data collection and analysis, or at least exposure to livestock or poultry, is preferred.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
