Ph.D. Research Assistantship (Spring 2024)
The Department of Poultry Science at Mississippi State University is seeking a highly motivated Ph. D. graduate research assistant beginning the Spring semester of 2024. The research will focus on identifying the challenge model, mitigation strategies, and antibiotic resistance pattern of avian pathogenic E. coli.
The selected candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following tasks:
Working in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory and live challenge facility
Developing research protocols
Performing bacterial challenges and interventions after the challenge
Performing data collection and analysis using statistical software
Presenting research outcomes in scientific meetings and conferences and refereed publications
Qualifications:
M.S. in poultry science, animal science, veterinary science, microbiology, or a closely related field
Prior microbiology experience is preferred but not mandatory
Strong oral and written communication skills
